Dr Sam Bowker presents: Splendour of the Shah-i-Zinda
This is the second in a series of three public lectures being delivered as part of the Silk Inroads community project being delivered in Wagga Wagga, regional NSW.
In this lecture, we start in Uzbekistan and then explore spectacular sites in Iran, Afghanistan and India which have inspired new Australian artworks in needlepoint. We review the rich diversity of ornament, cultural history and design of the actual places that have inspired the Silk Inroads community project in Wagga Wagga, regional NSW.
It is delivered by Dr Sam Bowker, Senior Lecturer in Art History and Visual Culture at Charles Sturt University.
This project is funded by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
